Thank you all for your kind words yesterday. I really love all of you guys, and if I'm not following your blogs, please let me know. I want to be.

I love how many new followers I got when I put up my Bree Despain contest! And it wasn't even a requirement. You guys are so awesome.

I'll post the winner of the contest after I get done with work, but first, I want y'alls opinion on something.

I was talking with my friend Y yesterday (you know who you are) and we talked about when to post reviews. I was worried about posting reviews too early, but she said that she likes to here about them as soon as I read them so she can put them on her list of things to look forward to.

What do you guys think? Post reviews as I read them? Or post closer to publication date? There's a poll in the sidebar to make voting easier.

That's why there haven't been many reviews lately. I've been reading, but they're all books that come out in November!

  1. It depends on the book for me, and what I have coming up. For instance, I posted a review of Secondhand Charm - which comes out in OCTOBER - early this month, but I moved my review of Firelight and Nightshade City to the month before their release. I posted Secondhand Charm because I didn't have other reviews lined up, but the other two had books with reviews that the timing didn't matter, so I could time them.

    ... did this make sense?

  2. I have been debating on this too - I would LOVE to know the results your poll shows,

On one hand - I like reading them early, so I can get "in the know" and create a list of MUST have's once they come out.

On the other hand - I hate reading early reviews for books that it will be MONTHS before I can get my hands on.

I am soo confused! Great question! BTW!

  3. I would rather see reviews closer to the release date when everyone can get a copy, so I usually hold my reviews until then. I don't usually read full reviews until I'm getting ready to buy a book, so if it was posted a long time before then it's hard to find again. Plus if I see a lot of raves from people, then I want to go get the book now, not wait 6 months. What I do like to see are posts about upcoming releases, especially if the person posting has read the actual book. So maybe the best is a little bit of both?

  4. I know publishers want to see reviews early but they'd rather reviews were posted to the general public around the book's release date.
And I have no idea if you're following me! I just know I am following you.

  5. If it's the first book in a series or by a new author, I think the review should be posted closer to the release date, but if it's a sequel to somthing then I'd say post a review for it shortly after you finish it. Hope this made some kind of sense. I'd love for you to follow my blog (The Haunting of Orchid Forsythia). ^_^

  6. I have a posted a few super early, but now I have learned that it's probably better to wait.

  7. It really depends on the book. If it's highly anticipated, I think the review should be posted around the release date. If not, I think that posting a review a couple months before release is fine.

  8. I like reading them early as well. I'm not a huge fan of spoilers, but if you write what you like and didn't like about the book, it makes me decide whether or not I would like it or it would be worth the read.;) Some books though, like really popular ones should probably be posted closer to the release date.:)
