Giveaway! INSIDE OUT by Maria V Snyder

I've been reasearching something lately, and I could really use your help. Instead of just asking for it, I decided to offer a little incentive...

So, Inside Out is definitely one of my favorite books of the year, and it's probably one of my favorite books of all time. And I somehow ended up with two copies! I do collect multiple copies of books (I have at least 3 of each Shannon Hale book) but only if they have different copies. Since these babies are both EXACTLY the same, I'm gonna give one away! Hurrah!

How can you win? Simple:
Comment with a question you want answered when you read a dystopian.
It can be something as simple as "Where do they get their food?" or something a little more complex like "Are the people happy? SHOULD they be?" This is for any general dystopian(I know, what's a "general" dystopian?). All questions are welcome. I'm hoping to get enough questions to build a society with no holes in it.

For example, when I was reading Inside Out I wanted to know
a) What happened to force them into this awkward society?
b) What stopped the people from revolting?

That's it! I'll give a bonus entry if you tweet/facebook/blog about the contest. But you must answer the question first. Please be sure to link back to this post and include @Enna_Isilee if you're tweeting (I'll follow you if you tweet @ me!). I'll need a DIRECT link. Don't just link me to your FB or twitter profile please!

You DO NOT have to be a follower (but I'd love it if you were!).
Contest open to US citizens only (or if you have a US mailing address)
Contest Closes 8/1/10 at 11:59pm MST, winner will be announced on 8/2/10

  1. How much history do people remember?

  2. How many people realize the society is dystopian?
How did the society become so dystopian?

    Thanks so much!

  3. I would like to know why some of the people, in Dystopian books, are happy with the way things are.
Or how the rulers of Dystopian societies manage to keep the majority of people so well...controled. ^_^
    Thanks for the awesome contest.

  4. Where did the religion and morals go and why did they disappear?

  5. How did the authorities get their power?
In most cases, the authorities realize the society is dystopian but deny it to the public. What made them decide to make the society this way?

  6. Oooh! I love dystopian lit and I have been totally eyeing this one for a long time now!!

I've always wanted to know- How many of the people in the society are happy with the way life it. Do they even realize that life could be better?! Sigh. I wonder how many of them actually realize they are being oppressed.

  7. What do they think of us? Do our histories still exist?

    Thanks for the contest!

  8. Is the ending of the book/series ambiguous? I can't stand for the ending to be left up in the air.

  9. My questions:
What do the leaders of dystopian nations think they'll get out of having there world the way it is?

What starks the change that begins with the transformation of a dystopian nation?

How do you notice the start of a dystopian nation?

Thanks for the giveaway! Dystopian books are one my my favorite to read!

  10. How did it get to be this way?

  11. I think I need to read a dystopian so I can understand exactly what one is. LOL
What do they use for currency?
What do they use for traveling (vehicles)?
    Are their weapons unusual?
    Is there a family unit?
What gives them hope, if there is any?
I really do like Maria V. Snyder's previous books!
    I am a follower.

  12. my question is, how, when and who started the dystopian society? who came up with the idea of such a society?

    i tweeted:

  13. Like you, I'd want to know if the people are happy. Like if there are great-grandparents who were young earlier in history, how do they like it?

  14. I haven't read a dystopian but I'm really want to. I have some on my wishlis--like this one! I guess my questions would be how did their world get like that? How did it all start? How do they live? How do they get their food and what food do they eat? Why would they let their would come to this?

  15. How would you compare/contrast a dystopian society in novels to those that exist today in other third world countries, with tyrants as leaders?

  16. My question is usually, what happened to the "powers that be" to make them think that this was a good thing? Or are they just power hungry?

  17. How did the author come up with this?
    Could this eventually happen?

    Awesome contest! :D

  18. I'm always curious about the past. How do they view the people from our time?

  19. Aside from "How did they to this point?" I also often wonder, "How does the economics of their world work?" -- this is more applicable to some dystopians than others, thought.

  20. Will the dystopian society seek to make technological improvements like our society is constantly doing?

  21. What keeps them a dystopian society?

  22. I'm pretty easy to please, really, but I like to know what happened to make the society dystopian, and why some people seem content with that life.
