**Ice-- Sarah Beth Durst + Giveaway

WAHOO!!! Watch out, World. Enna Isilee is BACK with a vengence! And what's to blame? Ice by Sarah Beth Durst.

This book is based in modern times, up in Alaska and the arctic. Cassie lives with her father and their team at a research station in the middle of the ice-desert. Cassie's grandmother often told Cassie the story of how her mother was promised to the Polar bear king by her father the North Wind, but then she fell in love with a human man and the Polar Bear King(love him!) agreed to protect her from the North Wind's wrath, on the condition that their first-born daughter be his wife. But North Wind found her anyway blew her to the edge of the earth to be with the trolls.

Now it's Cassie's 18th birthday, and the Polar Bear King has come for her.

We're talking hardcore Squeaky Book here guys, as in I haven't moved from this chair all day! What was it that gripped me about this book? EVERYTHING!

As some of you may know, this is the latest book by the author of Into The Wild (Heh. I just re-read my review of that book. I gushed there too), and this one is also based on a fairy tale.

It's based on East of the Sun, West of the Moon , and when my mother saw me reading this she said(justifiably), "Is that another book based on east of west moon sun?" And I am here to tell you: no it is not.

I haven't read East but I have read Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow. And I'm telling you, even if you have read those, this book will keep you on your toes! Durst brings in such an interesting mix of fairy tale, folklore, culture, and... I don't want to say religion, because that's not quite what it is, but if you read it you'll understand.

Just a quick squeaky: it's for a slightly older audience than Into the Wild (I'm gonna say... 14+, due to mild swearing, and married people doing what married people do).

Well? Are you hooked? Have I won you over? Are you dying to get your hands on this book as soon as it comes out?!

How about I help you out with that?

I'm not going to officially announce a contest until Monday. But let's just say it's in your best interest (and mine) to become a follower of my blog before then (you'll notice that the author of this book is! HI SARAH!!).

Tee hee. I'm so excited!
~Enna Isilee

  1. I just got this today. Can't wait to read it!!! :-)

  2. I want to read this so badly!

    Does being a subscriber count??

  3. I can't see if you're a subscriber. Becoming a follower just involves clicking the button on my sidebar, it's not that different than subscribing.

    Do you subscribe via reader?

  4. ditto to priya's question -- I've got you on my google reader. I'll switch to "following" if I have to, but I'd rather not. Anyway, the book sounds good! Very intriguing.

  5. Hmm... This is a serious problem. I have 96 subscribers on Reader, but I don't have any way to know who they are...

Following and Reader are linked, ya know. You don't have to "switch." You just have to become a public follower.

Is this going to be a big problem though? 'Cause... I really want you guys to be able to participate.

  6. I want to get my hands on this book as soon as is humanly possible!

I am a follower AND a subscriber. Does that give me extra points?

  7. Your review makes me want to read this even more!!! Can't wait for your contest!!!!

I subscribe to your blog and to Sarah's via Google Reader, since I quit using Blogger almost a year ago. Does that count still?

  8. Okay. I have tested it and here's what I've found.

If you have a google reader, then you're already a follower. The only difference between you and the people in my sidebar, is that you aren't on my sidebar. You click "Become a Follower," then enter your Google Reader ID (your e-mail and password), and voila. Your picture should pop up there, and nothing will have changed with your Reader.

You don't have to be a member of blogger. You just have to have a google account, which is something you have to have to join Reader anyway.

    Sound good, any more concerns?

I prefer Google Reader myself, the only reason I want people to become followers is so I can see them. Can't love you if I don't know you're there! Right?

  9. When I try to "follow" though, it says that I will receive updates on my blogger dashboard. Which I don't want because I don't like the blogger follower system and it clogs up my dashboard.

I subscribe via Google reader... can I send you a screen shot of my reader or something to prove that I'm a subscriber?

  10. Priya, I wouldn't make you do that.

I hadn't thought of it clogging your dashboard, I don't even notice mine.

I didn't know there were so many taboos with following.

Well, you'll find out when I post the contest post that there are other ways to enter the giveaway other than being a follower. I don't know what else to do.

  11. This looks sooo good! I have it on hold at my library!
